All of Us

She drives fenceposts, she drives a truck
She rides the wild horses, she rides a desk chair
She raises babies, she raises cattle
She welds metal, she melds little hearts
She dries dishes and tears
She bakes bread, she rakes hay
She grew up with her hands in the dirt
She grew up in the concrete jungle
She wears high heels, she wears combat boots
She carries a briefcase, she carries a rifle
She's a mother, she's a wife
She single and nobody's fool
She is my friend, my mentor, my muse
She is strong, she is tough
She is leather and lace and a dash of Betty Crocker
She is capable of more than she is given credit for- and more than she gives herself credit for.
She is each of us- the cowgirls and executives and farmers, the mommas and wives and grandmothers
We are the women our daughters look up
May we support each other, cheer each other on, and mentor one another. We are worthy of such great things.
