What a sad way to measure your worth. We've allowed an application on our phone, with no heart or soul, to become a gauge of our value. The bigger the number, the better we are. Hit 10k, go viral, be Instafamous...

And at what cost? Those 10k people who see a two second snippet of your life as they scroll through social media mindlessly rarely care about us, as people. They don't celebrate when you pass a test, get your driver's license, get a job, or hit huge milestones in your life. A "like" is not the same as genuinely caring for someone and being there in their times of darkness. Anonymity allows us to just keep scrolling if we don't want to deal with your problems. Facebook will hide your posts if you use the wrong word, silence you for believing anything different than what it tries to tell you is the truth, and you never know who is on the other side of the screen.

You are beautiful, the way you are-- without filters. You are valuable beyond measure to your parents, your children, your family, your spouses, and the real people in your life. It is more important to to have a few people who actually love and support you every day, than twenty thousand people who occasionally like or reshare your posts. Share your story, but don't forget where you came from.

Just some thoughts from this momma who prays daily her girls know that their worth has nothing to do with what others think of them.
