New Beginnings

A new beginning.

We picked up the 10 head of bred heifers we bought a month ago yesterday, and surprised the girls by finally telling them the heifers are the start of their own herds.

They don't know it yet, but the rest of their Christmas present is that they are inheriting two family brands. I'm passing the brand that was given to me by my parents on to our youngest, and my parents are passing on an old brand of theirs to our oldest.

This is what ranching is about. Passing on a legacy to the next generation, and making sure they have an opportunity to carry it on if they want. Passing on traditions, and making sure history of family lives on.

I can't control the future or fix past mistakes, but I can take life a day at a time and pray we can keep living this way. God is good and always provides. When you don't know where to start, look up and keep moving forward.
